Missouri's new law promoting the illusion that workers will have the same rights and voices in the workplace when it comes to settling issues of pay, benefits, and discipline in a workplace not represented by a union as they would have in a workplace WITH a union is a massive act of cowardice against the workers who keep Missouri working. By not being required to pay dues into the unions that represent the workplace, the burden shifts more heavily onto the workers who understand the need for the union in a national economy that steadily redistributes wealth to the top 1%. A strong union requires that all workers who are represented by that union chip in to cover the expenses of bargaining effectively with employers who all too often seek to squeeze pay and benefits from their workers to enrich the shareholders. Corporations are organized and Labor must be to. Don't fall for the lie of "Right to Work." It's a scam that's eroded the middle class for decades. Just look to your neighbor to the west, Kansas, to see its effects.

Bargaining power for public sector unions in Iowa were dealt a blow by the Republican led Iowa Legislature. It will mean unions have to collect dues manually and hold more frequent elections to dismantle. A move that cripples workers'rights and their voices on the job. The State of Iowa follows Wisconsin in sweeping the rug out from under the people they are supposed to represent.
